Throughout my education and work experience I have worked with, and lead, diverse groups to build solutions to shared problems. I look forward to working with the constituents of District 61 and members of the Colorado House of Representatives on the challenges and opportunities facing Colorado. I live in rural Garfield County and have been a resident of the Roaring Fork Valley since 2000. I received a B.A. Degree in Physics from the University of Colorado with additional class work in molecular biology, computer science, and economics. My wife Kris is a former software sales executive with a masters in public administration from the University of Colorado. She currently serves on the Western Region Executive Board of the Embroiderer's Guild of America. I was raised in Southern Indiana where I was active in music and theater. My early years were spent around my parent's farm and drilling business. I attended Colorado Outward Bound School in Marble and the National Outdoor Leadership School in Wyoming. A Colorado resident beginning in 1968, I have worked in retail, construction, and the newspaper business. I was self employed providing graphic arts, photography, and advertising services. I was art director, public relations manager, and director of strategic planning during the early years of Blue Mountain Arts, the Boulder based greeting card and book publisher. While a CU student, I worked two years as a research assistant in biopsychology on memory and learning. Later with the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics I was a research assistant on the only student run satellite in the country performing satellite operations and analysis of ozone. Following graduation, I was a system/software engineer with Lockheed Martin where I worked on projects that included the Hubble Space Telescope, the Iridium Satellite Phone, and various national security systems. I am currently Chief Technical Officer of Starfall Education and Blue Mountain Arts. The www.starfall.com website is used by children throughout the world and has transformed how young students learn to read. | ||||||||||||
